I've recently been told that I have a gift for taking good photos of food. Honestly, I'm not sure thats true, but it's been requested and thats why we're here. I'm going to tell you how to take great photos of your food, so you too can make everyone at your table wait so you can snap the perfect picture.
This idea was recently created by my friend Erin when we went out for drinks and all went to take a picture of our food at once. Here are the results...

Can you guess which one is mine? All of these photos were taken at the same time... so why did mine come out the best? Well that's because I love food and have a few tricks up my sleeve for taking the best photos I can.
1. Perspective is everything. You want your space as clean, organized, and de-cluttered as possible. Having a perspective that emphasizes the food without emphasizing the clutter (napkins, forks, unruly children in the background, etc.) gives the photo the most appeal.
2. Lighting is a must. Daylight is the best to take food photos in, but if you're in a dark restaurant a supportive friend holding a light will work just fine. (Maddi holding my camera light is not pictured in the above shot.)
3. Find your food's angles. Some food has layers, multiple levels, and beautiful colors. Try to capture them all or whatever you want to emphasize.
Happy snapping!
